Alaska, Day 1

July 27, 2010 by Pastor Jerry McQuay

It’s a LONG way here!  You’d think after the international travel we do in missions that we’d be used to it, but that 7-hour flight to Anchorage seemed to last forever yesterday.  We had a 2-hour layover there before our flight to Fairbanks, but Chris couldn’t wait to get into the spirit of this vacation, so here she is wearing her purchase at the Anchorage airport:

yes, I know the picture is sideways – I’ve tried to rotate it for 10 minutes & I’m giving up!

At any rate, by the time we arrived at our hotel in Fairbanks (about 9:30pm, Chicago time; 15 hours after we left our house), we were both exhausted, so we grabbed a bite to eat and went to bed.  We both woke up on Chicago time, so there wasn’t a lot to do at 3am in Fairbanks.  But we’ll be headed out for the riverboat tour in a few hours, and the Adventure begins.  I’ll post pictures later-

THANK YOU, CLC!

Actually, the picture is right-side up, so you must have fixed it after all.

    Have a great vacation!

Glad you guys are having a great time. (I’m also sending you a personal email with some information I think you both need to be aware of.) Take care.

Okay, got your “Out of Office” alert. So, I’ll just say “sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite.” Literally.

(Hope you saw NBC News with Brian Williams Tuesday night.)
