What has God NOT said about you?
Doing my devotions a little later in the day than usual while playing ‘Mr. Nurse’ to Chris, and this afternoon I read a verse of Scripture that I have never in my life noticed before - 2Kings 14:27 (read it yourself please).
Did you see it? Instead of reminding us of one of His promises, as God does so many times in Scripture, this time He says, in effect, “since I didn’t say that I would completely wipe you out, I’m going to save you”.
Dunno what that does for you, but it’s greatly encouraging to me - and here’s why: so many times when we’re faced with trials or discouragements, the enemy tries to plant thoughts in our head and pass them off as ‘God’s thoughts’. The enemy of your soul loves to ‘predict’ your future - and it’s always one of doom & gloom (a lot like the economic news coming from our media this days)
That’s when we need to stop & ask ourselves: who said that? And since it’s NOT what God has said (He says stuff like this and this and this instead), we might as well be encouraged that God is not going to do what He hasn’t said; He’s always going to fulfill His Word in our lives - if we walk in faith.
